Wallpaper Installation

A well-installed wallpaper job starts long before the first roll is unrolled: the wall has to be completely smooth, dry and free of any old paint that could come loose. If the surface has artex or imperfections, it's smoothed first — see artex removal and wall smoothing — because any flaw in the wall shows through the paper.

Then comes the more delicate work: measuring and cutting each strip taking the design's pattern into account, applying the right adhesive for the type of paper (vinyl, fibreglass, natural), and aligning each join so the seams are invisible and the pattern continues without interruption from one strip to the next.

We work with both statement designer wallpaper for a single accent wall — very common in living rooms and bedroom headboards — and full-room installation. You can bring your own chosen paper, or ask us for advice if you're still deciding on the design.

In damp areas, such as bathrooms or kitchens, we assess whether wallpaper is really the best option or whether an alternative finish more resistant to water vapour makes more sense — we'd rather be upfront about this than install something that isn't going to last.

This service is often combined with a full interior renovation — see interior painting — when only some of the home's walls are papered and the rest are painted.

Before starting, we measure the room precisely to work out the exact number of rolls needed based on the pattern width, avoiding both running short of material mid-installation and buying more than necessary.

For heritage or large-repeat patterns, we always order slightly more material than the strict measurement suggests, since offcuts left over from matching the pattern on one wall usually can't be reused on the next.

Can I bring my own wallpaper, or do you have to choose it?

You can bring whichever paper you prefer — we take care of preparing the wall and installing it. We can also advise you if you haven't chosen one yet.

Can wallpaper be put up over an artex wall?

Not directly — the wall needs smoothing first so the paper lies completely flat, without the texture underneath showing through. See artex removal and wall smoothing.

How long does well-installed wallpaper last?

It depends on the material and how the room is used, but a quality paper installed properly in a damp-free area can last many years without peeling or fading.

Do you work with accent-wall wallpaper or full-room installations?

Both — from a single accent wall in a living room or bedroom to a full-room installation.
