Decorative Plaster Finishes

Venetian plaster, microcement and hand-applied decorative finishes, for anyone after more than a single flat colour on the wall.

Venetian plaster is a traditional finish applied in several very thin coats of lime mortar or resin, hand-polished between coats, until it achieves a depth and sheen similar to polished marble. It's craftsman's work that takes time and experience — each coat needs to dry before the next is applied, and the final polish is what separates a decent finish from an exceptional one.

Microcement, on the other hand, creates a seamless, continuous surface with a more matt, industrial look, widely used on both walls and floors in bathrooms and kitchens for its resistance to water and everyday wear. It's also applied in several coats, with a final sealing resin that determines its long-term durability.

In both cases, the result depends directly on the condition of the surface: the wall needs to be completely smooth before starting, with no leftover artex or imperfections — if that's not your case, we sort it out first with our smoothing service.

We also offer other decorative finishes on request — textures, glazes and bespoke colour combinations — designed for living rooms, bedroom headboard walls or business receptions looking for something that stands out from a conventional flat paint job.

This service is commonly combined with a broader interior renovation — see interior painting — or with refurbishing a commercial premises. If you'd like an idea of cost before deciding, you can write to us directly or request a free technical visit.

If your project includes several rooms with different finishes — some in plaster, others in conventional paint — we coordinate it all within the same job. For an idea of cost before deciding, you can use the online estimator or check what determines the price.

We also apply Venetian plaster and microcement in commercial spaces — reception areas, boutique shops and small offices — where the extra investment in a distinctive finish is often part of the overall brand experience for anyone walking through the door.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Venetian plaster and microcement?

Venetian plaster is a polished finish with a marble-like texture, applied in several thin coats; microcement creates a continuous surface, more matt and resistant, also common on floors. The choice depends on the effect and use you want for the room.

How long does a plaster finish take?

Longer than conventional paint, because it's applied in several coats with drying time between each and a final polish. The exact timeframe depends on the surface and is confirmed at the technical visit.

Can plaster be applied to any wall?

It needs a well-prepared, smooth surface — if the wall has artex or imperfections, it needs smoothing first. See artex removal and wall smoothing.

Is it a hard-wearing finish for everyday use?

Yes, when properly applied and sealed, both plaster and microcement are resistant to daily use, including regular cleaning.
