Paint needs a stable temperature range and enough humidity to cure properly — not so hot that it dries on the surface before it has bonded, and not so damp that it never fully sets. On the Costa Blanca, that combination is hardest to find in the height of summer and in the wettest weeks of autumn and winter.
Why we avoid peak summer
In July and August, direct sun on a south-facing façade can push the surface temperature well above air temperature, causing the paint to dry too fast on the outside while the layer underneath is still wet. That mismatch is a common cause of cracking and poor adhesion that only becomes visible months later.
Why we're cautious about deep winter
Winter on the Costa Blanca is mild compared to northern Europe, but the occasional week of rain and higher humidity slows curing times significantly and can affect the final finish if work isn't paused for it. It's not that painting in winter is impossible — it just requires watching the forecast more closely than in other seasons.
Spring and autumn: the sweet spot
Both seasons offer the mix most exterior paints are formulated for: moderate temperatures, manageable humidity, and generally stable weather for the several consecutive dry days a façade job usually needs. It's also, unsurprisingly, when most local painters are busiest — booking your technical site visit early gives you more flexibility on scheduling.

What this means for interior work
Interior painting doesn't face the same weather constraints, since it happens indoors regardless of the season — but very high summer humidity combined with closed windows during the hottest hours can still slow drying times slightly. It's rarely a reason to delay an interior project, though, unlike exterior work.
